A Real Life example of how our services changed
one customer's life for the better...

Mr A. of Guildford contacted us in October 2006. He was at his wit's end. Having purchased his home earlier that year, he had no equity to borrow against, and the mounting costs of his new home and supporting his wife and two young children had quickly put him £50,000 into debt.

His monthly minimum payments were over £900, and even at this level he was only repaying the interest each month - the original debt was not even reducing. After his mortgage and these payments, there was barely enough left for his family to live on.

Gradually things got worse. Mr. A. started to miss payments on his credit cards and mortgage - his wife was concerned that they were going to have their beautiful new home repossessed by the building society. She saw one of our adverts and begged him to take action before it was too late.

Our professional qualified advisors arranged an Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA) for Mr.A which meant that his debts could be repaid at £325.83 per month, payable over 5 years. Now he will repay a total of £19,549.80, instead of the £50,000 plus interest that he owed. Over the 5 years, that's a saving of over £84,000! Yes, just by talking to us, Mr. A saved over eighty four thousand pounds.

Mr. A and his family are now more relaxed and confident that they have enough money to pay their mortgage and enjoy the good things in life. And best of all, in 5 years, they will be 100% debt free.

Take the Initiative to Save Money and Get Out of Debt

Everyday, people’s mailboxes are being flooded with “pre-approved” credit cards, catalogues, and advertisements positioning to deplete their savings and drawing them deeper into debt. No wonder the recently reported statistics of UK debt is staggering at £1,448,000,000.

If you owe a portion of these statistics, you have to act now and think of your own debt relief initiative instead of waiting for the government or other people to help you. So here are some steps to get rid of debt in your life:

1. Don’t ignore your debt – this is the worst thing that you can do. It’s not right to pretend that you are not experiencing debt problems at all. If you ignore letters from creditors and don’t open your bank statements, you will be in more trouble.

2. Set up a monthly budget to know where your money flows. Add your income, subtract it to your expenses, and set up a debt payment plan.

3. Hold back the temptation to borrow more money (even from friends or family).

4. To increase income, get an evening or part-time job. You can also clean your home and sell books, CDs, or unwanted clothes in an online auction or garage sale.

5. Another debt relief initiative is switching your utility supplier to the cheapest service provider. This is not too risky, since these suppliers are strictly regulated and all of them have the same standards of service.

6. Since your mortgage is your biggest expense every month, it’s also important to make sure that you have the best deal.

7. Cut your store cards – these have the most expensive credit interest rates in the market (nearly 30% annual percentage rate) if you don’t pay your balance fully every month. Since you can’t avoid missing monthly repayments sometimes, the interest charge will eat up your money very quickly.

8. Pay all your utility bills by direct debit so that you will not worry about sending your payment on time.

9. Take advantage of credit card promotions such as 0% balance transfer rates to provide a little breathing space for you in paying off debts. Also, cut out any spare cards to minimize the temptation of overspending.

10. Since there is a rise in internet banks, maybe it will make sense for you to switch and enjoy less banking fees.

11. Cutting back on non-essential spending is another debt relief initiative . Avoid too many sweets, CDs, magazines, fast food and coffee. You will be surprised at the amount you can save if you shop for food weekly, use a shopping list, and plan your meals at home. GP
